Who is targeted?

Google’s former SVP of People Operations Laszlo Bock said “When you look at people who don’t go to school and make their way in the world, those are exceptional human beings. And we should do everything we can to find those people”.  

Actually, a lot of international big companies like Google, Facebook, IBM, EY(UK), Hilton, Apple, Bank of America, etc. are no longer looking for college degrees while recruiting because a degree doesn’t tell them about talent, willingness and commitment. 

Therefore, even if some of WEC’s partners may be having degrees’ appetite, at WEC we believe in talent and courage to make it right. That’s why we are considering every young person from Senior 6 up to PhD graduates in case they want to join our LWI’s program. We highly believes in actions. One unique and compulsory requirement is to have B2 English level (75%) for any applicant.   

In fact, technical support focuses on getting things done timely and accurately and not on academic level. Through our “Experience Based Learning”, customers will recommend the best trainees and hence candidates to remote jobs’

LWI – Short Course

The LWI – Short Course corresponds to a six months intensive training and work. It includes 3 international certifications equivalent to 2,950 US$, from Microsoft, PearsonVUE, and IBTA (International Business Training Association) respectively. The LWI – Short Course program has three phases namely:

  1. 1st phase of  Six Months: Six month of Learning and Work, considered as a Learning and Professional internship – Successful candidates receive 70,000Rwf per month. 
  2. 2nd phase of Three months of probation: At end of the learning and professional internship, successful candidates get three month for job probation. 
  3. 3rd phase of Twelve months job contract: At end of the probation period, successful candidates will receive a twelve months job contract as CSA, from which they can progress to higher positions like Team Trainer, Team Quality Assurance Clerk,  Team  Leader, etc.   

LWI – Undergraduate

Apart from short courses, we also have the accredited undergraduate program of the Advanced Diploma in Cloud Computing (ADC). This program will be hosted at our Bugesera Campus and doesn’t much differ from the short-course one except in duration. The LWI – Undergraduate program has also three phases namely:

  1. 1st phase of  36 Months: Thirty Six month of workplace learning, where successful candidates receive 70,000Rwf per month as well. 
  2. 2nd phase of Three months of probation: At end of the workplace learning period, successful candidates get three month for job probation. 
  3. 3rd phase of Twelve months job contract: At end of the probation period, successful candidates will receive a twelve months job contract as CSA, from which they can progress to higher positions like Team Trainer, Team Quality Assurance Clerk,  Team  Leader, etc.

LWI Requirements

Even if the  Learn and Work Initiative (LWI) provides permanent jobs, it has its fundamental requirements such as:

  1.  Entry Exams: The candidates must successfully pass 3 entrance exams. 
  2. Certification: The candidates must successfully pass 3 certifications exams embedded into the program
  3. Productivity: Since it’s a learning and work program, all successful candidates are considered to be employed and hence subject to work performance appraisal with the minimum productivity requirement. If they perform poorly, they are discontinued like other employees and hence lose both learning and working.  

Application process

The application process is simple, you just sit for three entrance exams namely:

  1. Application: You must first of all apply and the first in is the first served. 
  2. Test1 – English Exam: It’s mandatory to successfully pass the listening and reading English exam at B2 Level (75%). Once you fails, you don’t go to the next step
  3. Test2 – Reading: Reading the traditional customer support material and get tested from the content provided. Once you fail, you don’t go to the next step
  4. Test3 – Reading again: Reading the remote customer support provided materials and get tested. Once you pass, you becomes eligible for LWI.
